Organic Honey
from Chiapas.
Apiselva is a cooperative of 240 beekeepers from different regions of the state of Chiapas, founded in 2020 by a group passionate about the care and preservation of bees in our environment, initially based in the municipality of La Trinitaria; since then, the aim has been to achieve sustainability in beekeeping and since its creation, it has worked with the certifying agency CERTIMEX to implement pest and disease management processes using natural methods, without the use of chemical products; the feeding of the bees is done through the reserve of honey in the hive, to ensure organic honey production.
Our cooperative partners have been trained in the organic management of hives and place the apiaries in locations within the Chiapas jungle and mountains where there is no risk of contamination from agricultural activities and are far from cities and towns that may pose a risk to the well-being of the bees; currently, an inventory of 14,000 hives is managed with a production of 560 tonnes of honey annually.
We have achieved organic certification for our honey production for the past 4 years under the following standards and regulations:
(1) Organic Products Law of Mexico, LPO-ALOA
(2) The organic regulations of Europe Regulation CE 848/2018.
(3) We are members of the Naturland association in Germany and comply with the organic beekeeping regulations.
(4) and the NOP regulations issued by the USDA of the United States of America for organic production.
We have been exporting our honey to the European market for the past 4 years and in Mexico we have established ourselves as one of the cooperatives with the highest honey sales for human consumption through our marketing company Apicola Montebello. With this, we have achieved a better selling price for our honey production, the sustainability of beekeeping in Chiapas, and the improvement of the quality of life for the families of the beekeepers that form APISELVA.
